Just as important as what we do in our lives is who we become. Jesus showed us the way and set the perfect example.

become Christian
The invitation to follow Jesus is an invitation to follow his example and become like him. Learn from him and try to integrate his qualities into your life. Through the power of His grace, you can become a better, Christlike person.
trust
When you believe in Christ, believe in him as the Son of God, the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh. You accept him as your Savior and Redeemer and follow his teachings. You believe that your sins can be forgiven because of His Atonement. Believing in him means that you trust him and trust that he loves you.
Faith is a principle of power. God works through power, but His power is usually exercised in response to faith. He works according to the faith of his children. Doubt and fear are the opposites of belief. Your faith in Jesus Christ will grow as you learn more about Him and His teachings. As you study the scriptures, you will learn about His ways, His love for all people, and His commandments.
„Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the proof of things not seen.”
– Hebrews 11:1
Hope
Hope is a constant trust that the Lord will fulfill His promises to you. It manifests in your confidence, optimism, enthusiasm and patience. It is to believe and expect that something will happen. When you have hope, you will overcome trials and tribulations with confidence and faith that all will work together for your good (see Romans 8:28). Hope helps you overcome discouragement. The scriptures often describe the hope in Jesus Christ as the assurance that you will inherit eternal life.
„Therefore, you must walk forward with steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope and love for God and for all men. Therefore, if you press on, feast upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have everlasting life.”
—2 Nephi 31:20
charity and love
Charity is the pure love of Christ. It includes God's boundless love for all His children. We must strive to develop that kind of love. As you sincerely pray for the gift of charity, strive to live righteously, and serve others, you will have a sincere concern for the well-being and happiness of others. They avoid negative feelings like anger, jealousy, lust, or saying negative things about them. You will try to understand them and their points of view. You will be patient with them and try to help them when they have problems or are discouraged. Charity comes from action. You will develop charity as you seek opportunities to serve others and to give of yourself.
“Charity suffers long and is benevolent; Charity Charity does not boast, is not puffed up, does not misbehave, seeks nothing of its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; endures all, believes all, hopes all, endures all. Charity never fails.”
-1. Corinthians 13:4–8

Virtue
Virtue arises in your innermost thoughts and desires. It is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. What you think and do when you are alone and believe no one is looking is a powerful measure of your virtue.
Virtuous people are spiritually clean and pure. They focus on righteous, uplifting thoughts and push unworthy thoughts that lead to inappropriate actions out of their minds. They obey God's commandments. They pray for the strength to resist temptation and do what is right. They quickly repent of any sins or misdeeds.
„According as his divine power has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us to glory and virtue: ... Add virtue to your faith; and to the knowledge of virtue; and for the moderation of knowledge; and to moderate patience; and patience piety; and to piety brotherly kindness; and to the charity of brotherly goodness. For if these things are in you and abound, they will not make you barren or barren in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
—2 Petrus 1:3–7
Patience
Patience is the ability to endure delay, trouble, adversity, or suffering without becoming angry, frustrated, or anxious. It is the ability to do God's will and accept His timing. If you are patient, you can withstand pressure and face adversity with calm and hope. Patience is related to hope and faith—you must wait for the Lord's promised blessings to be fulfilled. You must be patient with everyone, including yourself, as you work to overcome mistakes and weaknesses.
„Not only that, we also boast in tribulation: knowing that tribulation breeds patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope is not ashamed; for the love of God is poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
– Romans 5:3-5
humility
Humility is the willingness to submit to the Lord's will and give Him credit for what has been accomplished. It involves gratitude for His blessings and acknowledgment of your ongoing need for His divine help. Humility is not a sign of weakness; it is a sign of spiritual strength.
The opposite of humility is pride, which is condemned in the scriptures. Being proud means trusting yourself more than God or his servants. When you humbly trust God and acknowledge His power and mercy, you can be assured that His commandments are for your good. You trust that if you rely on Him, you can do anything the Lord asks of you.
„And when people come to me, I will show them their weakness. I give people weakness so that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men who humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me and believe in me, then I will make weak things strong for them.”
– Ether 12:27
